6:00am every Mon from 1 Jun - 10 Jul 2026
For the past 4 years, the Door of Hope community has gathered for focused prayer together every day for a season of 40 days to discern the voice of God together.
These seasons have brought a closeness with God, each other and clarity for significant issues that affect our broader community and us.
We will be praying again this year - starting our 40 Days on June 1st and finishing on July 10th. We are also excited to invite our community to consider adding the spiritual practice of fasting to their routine during this period.
Fasting is the practice of going without food during daylight hours for a set period of time. Fasting is an act of worship - sacrificing some of our comfort to abide in Jesus and bring more focus on God's presence and voice in our lives. As we fast, we pray more fervently, draw closer to God, and spend time listening to the Holy Spirit, reminding ourselves that Jesus is the Living Water and Bread of Life that our souls desperately need to live. Christian fasting has always been intimately linked with the practice of prayer.
If you'd like to join our community in prayer AND fasting this year, you may wish to consider these options:
As an added practice, you may wish to consider giving your 'missed meals' to somebody in our community who can't afford to eat regular meals by donating funds or non-perishable supplies to our Emergency Food Pantry, or other community organisations such as Launceston City Mission.

There are so many ways and times to connect with us during our 40 days of prayer:
We will have the following prayer times running:
Our staff ministry leaders recently discerned together three areas of focus for our 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting:
1 - We would be a community devoted to prayer and gratitude.
We desire to cultivate a deep devotion to speaking with Jesus—not as a routine, but as a living relationship. We want to remain spiritually alert, discerning the times we are living in and sensitive to His leading. Let’s pray that the Holy Spirit would guard us from distraction, weariness, or complacency, and instead fill our prayers with faith and expectancy. May gratitude continually flow from our hearts, reminding us of God’s faithfulness and anchoring us in hope no matter our circumstances. We desire to be a community that prays TOGETHER for the transforming power of the Holy Spirit to be at work in families, communities and networks.
2 - Healthy Relationships
The expression of God’s Kingdom sees disciples of Jesus who are in community and exemplify the practice of confession and forgiveness to one another. We want authentic conversations that nurture, build and restore relationships so that we may pursue the vision, mission and strategic goals that God has for Door of Hope.
3 - God would open doors for sharing Jesus with wise living and gracious speech.
We want God to open doors for the message of Christ in places we cannot reach on our own—within our community, our workplaces, our families, and across nations. May God give us opportunities to declare the mystery of Christ boldly and faithfully and grant us clarity of speech so the Good News is shared. May our speech and conduct draw others closer to the hope we have in Christ.
We are inviting you to join us as we prioritise prayer – the first of our 6 Key Values.
