Hope Discovery Kids is a high-energy, engaging children's program that teaches values with a biblical foundation in person and online- on demand and free.
Held Sunday mornings (excluding Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter, and December) from 10am to 11:15am for Pre-school children all the way through to grade 6. Our dedicated team of volunteers has a love for children, faith in God, and is trained and safety-screened to ensure children are fully supervised through the warm and inclusive experience.
Hope Discovery Playgroup is a fun, interactive playgroup for parents/carers of children from infants to the age of 4, running on Thursday mornings (during school terms) from 10am until 11:30am.
Each week includes activities to develop, gross motor, fine motor, imaginative and creative learning, and play. Our team of experienced volunteers is excited for you and your little one(s) to come and play.
Situated within the Door Of Hope Facility, our mission is to build a community that will support families to thrive and raise children with hope for the future, through programs and activities from birth to Grade 6.
Melissa is our Children’s Pastor and is responsible for leading our Sunday morning children’s service, organising their YouTube channel, and discipling children. Her vision for this ministry is to partner with the Holy Spirit to empower children so they can encounter Jesus and share God’s love. She has a passion for teaching children how to connect with Jesus on a personal level and has selected John 12:27 “My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me” as an anchor verse for the ministry. She volunteered in a variety of roles for children’s ministry at Door of Hope for over 10 years before becoming the children’s pastor in 2020.
Originally from Canada, she was highly involved in different areas of children’s ministry at her family’s church and went on to train in children’s ministry.
She met her husband Joshua when he was the Best Man in her sister’s wedding in Canada. Now married for 15 years with 4 beautiful children she calls Tasmania home. Melissa loves the different seasons, her favourite being autumn with the changing of the leaves. Some of her favourite things are coffee, day trips with her family and Disney jigsaw puzzles.
