Take a walking tour around the Heritage listed 100 year old former Patons and Baldwins woollen mill. Hear stories from the early days of the Mill. Learn how the mill made a significant contribution to Launceston’s development with a peak workforce of over 2,000 before its closure in 1997. See first hand the unfolding redevelopment of the building by Door of Hope Christian Church, with insights into some of the major challenges faced. Be introduced to the new community that is developing across the site. The tour will include recorded stories from former workers and some historical footage.
Tour includes:
* How did Door of Hope Christian Church come to buy an old wool mill?
* Visit the Mad Wheels workshop and be inspired by how God used $100 to start a ministry that impacts lives in so many ways.
* Hear stories from former Coats Patons workers.
* Be amazed by the ingenuity of the builders from days gone by.
* Visit the Memorabilia area.
Duration 1 ½ hours. There are level access options to all areas visited. A high percentage of the building is tenanted, so most of the tour is conducted outside. Come prepared to walk and dress to suit the weather ie. hot/cold.
