Kristie emphasises that the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ultimate "good news", a royal announcement of God's kingdom come near, that brings joy, freedom, and transformation to all who believe and calls us to live and share this good news boldly every day.
The birth of Jesus was announced in a way unlike any other in history—not with a simple card or a social media post, but with a heavenly choir and an archangel. This was not just a birth announcement; it was the proclamation of the greatest good news the world has ever received. As we prepare our hearts for Christmas, even in November, we remember that the arrival of Jesus is the fulfilment of ancient prophecies, the climax of God’s story with humanity, and the ushering in of a new kingdom.
The phrase “good news” carried deep meaning in both the Old and New Testaments. In the Old Testament, it was a royal announcement—a declaration that a new king was on the throne. In the New Testament, it was the angelic message that the Saviour had come. Even before Jesus spoke a word or performed a miracle, his very presence was good news for the world. The angels, the prophets, and even John the Baptist all pointed to this reality: Jesus himself is the good news.
This good news is not just advice or a set of instructions; it is the announcement of something already accomplished. Jesus’ birth, life, death, and resurrection have changed everything. He is good news for the broken, the lonely, the grieving, the oppressed, and the anxious. His coming means freedom from sin, peace in the midst of chaos, and the invitation to live in the joy and salvation he brings.
But this good news is not meant to be kept to ourselves. Just as the angels sang, and just as Paul made it his ambition to proclaim Christ where he had not been named, we are called to sing this song to the world. Whether it feels easy or awkward, whether we feel confident or off-key, our lives are already singing a song. The question is: are we singing the song of the good news? Are we living in the freedom and joy that Jesus brings, or are we still weighed down by fear, uncertainty, or the burdens of life?
To truly live in the good news is to let it transform us and to become a source of blessing to others. Jesus invites us not only to receive his salvation but to share it, to let the angel’s song become our own, and to bring hope to those who have never heard.
Scripture:
Luke 2:8-14 (NIV)
'And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.” '

Devotional:
The birth of Jesus was proclaimed by angels as “Good News of great joy for all the people,” signifying a royal and cosmic announcement that God’s promised Messiah had arrived. This was not just any birth announcement, but the fulfilment of ancient prophecies and the ushering in of a new kingdom, bringing hope, peace, and salvation to a broken world. The angelic message to the shepherds reminds us that God’s good news is for everyone, regardless of status or circumstance, and that the arrival of Jesus changes everything for humanity.
Reflection:
When you consider the angel’s announcement of Jesus’ birth, what does it mean to you personally that God’s Good News is for “all people”—including you?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the Good News of Your birth and presence in my life. Help me to receive this news with joy and not fear, just as the shepherds did. May Your peace fill my heart today. Amen.
Scriptures:
Mark 1:14-15 (NIV)
'After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” '

Devotional:
Jesus’ arrival was the long-awaited fulfilment of God’s promise to send a cosmic King who would restore and rule over all things, bringing salvation and hope to the world. His coming was not just a historical event, but the climax of God’s redemptive story, fulfilling prophecies and inaugurating a new era where God’s kingdom is near and accessible. The Good News is not just that Jesus came, but that in Him, God’s reign, peace, and restoration have broken into our world, offering transformation to all who believe.
Reflection:
What does it look like for you to “repent and believe” that God’s Kingdom is at hand in your daily life right now?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the 'Good News' that has come into the world and particularly into my life. I repent of my sinfulness and seek You afresh today. Amen.
Scriptures:
Galatians 5:1 (NIV)
'It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. '

Devotional:
The Good News of Jesus is not just a message to be heard, but a reality to be lived - freedom from sin, release from fear, and a new identity as God’s beloved. Even in the midst of illness, discomfort, or difficult relationships, those who belong to Christ are no longer slaves to fear or doubt but are set free to live in the joy and salvation He brings. This freedom is not dependent on our feelings or circumstances, but on the finished work of Jesus, who calls us to stand firm and live as new creations.
Reflection:
In what area of your life do you most need to embrace the freedom Christ has given you, and what is one step you can take today to live in that freedom?
Prayer:
I thank You Lord Jesus for the freedom I have in You. That I have been set free from sin, fear, and doubt. Thank You for the joy and hope Your salvation brings in my life. May I be a beacon that shines Your Good News to all around me as I stand firm despite my circumstances and live a life of freedom in You. Amen.
Scripture:
Romans 15:18-21 (NIV)
'I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done— by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation. Rather, as it is written: “Those who were not told about Him will see, and those who have not heard will understand.” '

Devotional:
Those who have received the Good News are called to share it, letting the “angel’s song” become their own song for the world. Whether it feels easy or awkward, your life and words are already singing a song that others hear—so let it be the song of Jesus’ hope, joy, and salvation. God’s plan is for you to be a source of blessing, greater even than John the Baptist, by letting the reality of Christ in you overflow to those around you, so that those who have never heard may see and understand.
Reflection:
Who in your life is already “listening to your song,” and how can you intentionally share the Good News of Jesus with them this week?
Prayer:
Lord, may the angel’s song of Good News be my song every day. Help me to remember Your love and salvation, and to sing it boldly in my heart and to others, even when it feels hard or awkward. Inspire my heart to praise You always. Amen.
Scripture:
Colossians 3:16 (NIV)
'Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. '

Devotional:
To truly live in the Good News, we must let it shape our hearts and minds each day, allowing Jesus’ words and life to transform us from the inside out. This means returning to the gospel daily, letting it remind us of our identity, our freedom, and our calling to be a blessing to others. As we meditate on the good news and walk into the world with it in our hearts, we become living testimonies of Christ’s love, peace, and joy—singing His song not just with our lips, but with our lives.
Reflection:
How can you set aside time each day this week to let the Good News of Jesus dwell in you richly, and what difference do you hope it will make in your attitude and actions?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that You are the Word and I have You dwelling in my heart through the Holy Spirit. Help me to spend quality time reading the Bible and allowing Your message to fill me and guide me. Lord may I love Your Word more each day and may it direct all I say and do. Amen.
Scripture:
Isaiah 40:9 (NIV)
'You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, “Here is your God!” '

Devotional:
The angel’s announcement of Jesus’ birth was not just for a select few; it was Good News for all people. Isaiah prophesied about a royal messenger bringing news of God’s coming kingdom, and Paul echoed this by boldly proclaiming the gospel to both Jews and Gentiles. The Good News is not limited by culture, background, or status. It is a message of hope and salvation meant for everyone. Just as the angel told the shepherds, and as Paul reminded the Romans, this good news is for you and for me.
The message of Jesus is powerful and life-changing, and it’s our privilege to be heralds of this joy. Isaiah proclaims: "...lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid..."
Reflection:
Are you ready to lift your voice and share this Good News with those around you? If not, what is holding you back?
Prayer:
Lord, help me to be bold in sharing the Good News of Jesus with everyone I meet. May I lift my voice without fear and bring hope to those who need it most. Amen.
Scriptures:
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)
'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! '

Devotional:
The angel’s message in Luke 2:8-14 to the shepherds was simple but powerful: "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people." This Good News was not just about a baby born in Bethlehem; it was about the arrival of a Saviour who brings joy and freedom to all people. When you receive Jesus, you are no longer slaves to fear, sin, or the burdens of this world. Instead, you are set free to live as new creations, filled with hope and joy.
Living in the joy and hope of the Good News may take further reflection on Jesus as your Good News and provider of freedom. If you have time, read Luke 2:8-20 and Galatians 5:1.
Reflection:
What does freedom in Christ mean for your daily life?
Who can you encourage with the Good News of Jesus’ love and salvation through your story of freedom?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the Good News that brings great joy and freedom. Help me to live each day as a new creation, walking in the freedom You have given me. When fear or doubt tries to take hold, remind me of Your peace and presence. May my life be a song of praise that shares Your Good News with those around me. Amen.
